We currently live in incredibly uncertain times.
COVID19 has wreaked havoc across the world, causing thousands of deaths and crippling economies.
A few months ago, the worries of COVID19 seemed so far away from my small island of Samoa.
Unfortunately, once the virus hit NZ, one of our closest trading partners, our government knew it was time to shut down our borders to the rest of the world.
We are extremely fortunate that we did so in time as Samoa's health system is not equipped to handle a widespread pandemic. We have learned from the recent measles outbreak that we cannot afford to be complacent.
For many businesses in Samoa, this sadly means having to close or operate at a minimal as we rely heavily on tourism for our bread and butter. Mine included.
I have received many emails from worried couples who have had weddings planned in Samoa asking what this means for them.
Due to the large volume of clients asking for refunds, it is not possible to do so for everyone. This is especially difficult for small vendors (myself included) trying to survive a prolonged period of ongoing costs, but with no income.
However, I completely understand this has been out of your control. With that in mind, I’m happy to hold your booking in credit until such a time the situation improves, and Samoa opens its borders once again.
I appreciate that it is hard to make long term plans in light of the current uncertainty, so no stress – I’ll work with you to book an alternative date. There’s no rush.
If you'd like to reach me, or have any questions, please email me on my alternative email: firstname.lastname@example.org
In the meantime, stay safe wherever you are! Work from home if you can, and practice social distancing whenever you’re out.
Much love from Samoa,
